Sawitri Sunthon

Sawitri has a long time been dreaming about becoming a medical Doctor. She tried to enter the faculty of medicine at Chiang Mai University, but failed.

Being convinced that her future would be in Public Health, she then decided to apply for a place at the Nursing College at Chiang Mai. During her school years she worked already several times as volunteer in the local hospital and in the Health Centre in her village. She liked this experience very much. She has now been admitted at the Nursing College.
She has applied for a Government Scholarship to cover the school fees, which looking at the results of her studies so far, will be given to her. PvT has decided to help her to pay for her daily expenses with a monthly allowance of 4.000 Baht.
She will finish her studies in 4 years. According to the school regulations she will have to work at least for some years in her own region, about which she is very happy. She will be able to look after her mother who became a widow recently.
